First day of school agenda -
"This is the way we start our day, start our day, start our day
This is the way we start our day so early in the morning.
"First, we smile and shake a hand, shake a hand, shake a hand
First, we smile and shake a hand so early in the morning.
Then, we sit down quietly, quietly, quietly
Then, we sit down quietly, so early in the morning.
We listen very carefully, carefully, carefully
We listen very carefully so early in the morning."
Behavior Plan:
If students decide not to follow their expectations then they will have to face the consequences of paying me a ticket. Their first notice of making poor choices is a warning, and from there they must hand me one of their behavior tickets. If they do not have any tickets to give they will owe me 2 minutes of recess.
Classroom Expectations:
I will sit Whole Body Listening.
2. Raised Hands
I will raise my hand to share my ideas.
3. Quiet Mouths
I will use a quiet voice.
4. Self-Control
I will show self-control.
5. Helping Hands
I will use my hands for helping and not hurting.
6. Caring Hearts
I will use kind words.
- Greet all students out by their lockers so they know where to put their backpack
- Show students to their desks/ families
- Introduce myself to the class
- Explain what their "families" are (5 table families)
- Go over how to make their lunch choice
- Have student meet me on the Smartboard rug to go over the Morning Procedures, Agenda, Class Jobs, and an introduction to the room
- Show the slide on Smartboard of their Morning Procedures and go over it in detail
- Turn in Take-Home Folder
- Turn in JRB Bag
- Make your lunch choice
- Unstack your chair
- Work on your morning work quietly and independently
- The Agenda is written on the dry erase board everyday and the teacher will go over that each morning
- Penguin Class Jobs are switched up weekly, and the teacher will go what the job entails and who has what job
- The teacher will walk around the room and show the main sections around the room: Smartboard Rug, Reading Rug, Families (grouped tables), and the 'Penguin Pal of the Week' chair
- The students will 'transition' to the Reading Rug to learn the morning song and to say The Pledge of Allegiance

Behavior Plan:
- Go over our behavior plan and how the behavior tickets work -

Classroom Expectations:
- Go over the classroom expectations, known as the Penguin Promise:
I will sit Whole Body Listening.
2. Raised Hands
I will raise my hand to share my ideas.
3. Quiet Mouths
I will use a quiet voice.
4. Self-Control
I will show self-control.

6. Caring Hearts
I will use kind words.
- We are all a family in my first grade classroom. We will all feel like a part of the family if we follow the Penguin Promise, respect one another, and show kindness each and every day. The rules are clear for every student to follow, and the behavior tickets will encourage each student to be the best learners they can be.
